Program & Itinerary
Led by a local guide who is knowledgeable about the area's food & drink scene and will provide insights and recommendations, discover the main sites of the charming medieval city center of Montpellier and taste regional specialties.
Begin your guided walking Gourmet Tour of Montpellier in centrally located the Place de la Comédie in front of the Opera House and next to the Fountain of the Three Graces. Your first stop will be at the indoor market where you will taste there a selection of regional cheeses and some seafood delights that arrive directly from the neighboring port town of Sète.
Stroll through the picturesque medieval streets and sample the traditional “fougasse”. It is a type of flatbread that is typically shaped like a leaf or an ear of wheat and has a crisp crust and a soft, airy interior. Fougasse is often flavored with olive oil and herbs like rosemary or thyme, which give it a distinct and savory taste. It is a versatile bread that can be served as a side dish, as a base for toppings like cheese and vegetables, or simply enjoyed on its own. Other delicacies that you will sample on this gourmet tour include olive oil, tapenade, pastries, chocolate and Languedoc wines.
In total this gourmet tour includes tastings of at least 10 of our local specialties while admiring the historical district of Montpellier.
