Explore the Historic WWII and Normandy Landings with Our Expert Guide
Join us for an immersive journey through WWII and the momentous Normandy landings, accompanied by our English-speaking driver/guide, a local expert in this field. Upon arrival at the designated meeting point, you will be warmly greeted by your guide, easily identifiable with a sign displaying the tour name and the Ophorus logo. Rest assured, all our guides wear nominative badges for your convenience.
Once you meet your guide, they will provide a comprehensive overview of the day's program and itinerary. Step into our comfortable, air-conditioned Mercedes minivan and embark on an unforgettable visit to Omaha Beach. Enjoy comfort and engaging commentary during the journey as all our vehicles are equipped with an onboard P/A system, ensuring that everyone, even those seated at the back of the van, can hear the guide's informative commentary throughout the drive.
Experience the Thrill of a Half-Day Trip to Omaha Beach and American Cemetery
Follow a thrilling half-day excursion to the renowned Omaha Normandy landing beach, paying tribute to the fallen heroes as we take you to the revered American cemetery and memorial.
Embark on the Coastal Battlefields Road
Departing from Bayeux, we will first visit the Pointe du Hoc site, offering a commanding view of Omaha Beach. Situated between Utah and Omaha beaches, this prominent location played a pivotal role in the amphibious assault by U.S. forces during the historic D-Day on June 6, 1944.
Learn about Lt. Col. James E. Rudder's daring mission as he commanded the 2nd Ranger Battalion to land at 6:30 a.m., scale the 100-foot cliffs, and disable the German positions. Lt. Col. Max F. Schneider's 5th Ranger Battalion followed to reinforce their efforts. Your knowledgeable guide will provide further insights into the site while you take in breathtaking views of the Normandy beaches and the remnants of the Atlantic Wall.
Drive to Omaha Beach
After a short drive, we will arrive at the coastal battlefield area of Omaha Beach. Transport yourself back in time as your guide recounts the gripping tale of one of the most audacious and successful large-scale invasions in military history, which unfolded on June 6, 1944. Omaha Beach posed the greatest challenge among the Allied landing sites, fiercely defended by formidable bunkers, fighting positions, and obstacles designed to repel any invasion.
Normandy American Cemetery
Conclude the tour with a visit to the hallowed grounds of the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer. Originally established as the temporary American St. Laurent Cemetery on June 8, 1944, it became the first American cemetery on European soil during World War II.
Take a moment to pay homage and explore the serene surroundings. Additionally, the Visitor Center offers a comprehensive array of services, providing a deeper understanding of the D-Day landings as one of history's greatest military achievements. After this poignant visit, we will return to Bayeux, concluding this extraordinary WWII and Normandy experience.
Don't miss this remarkable opportunity to delve into the history of WWII and the Normandy landings with our expert guide. Reserve your place now and be part of this unforgettable journey.

How many people died on Omaha Beach ?
Omaha Beach was the largest of the D-DAY assault areas. It stretched over 10 kilometers (6 miles). The area was assigned to the U.S First Army under Lieutenant General Omar Bradley. From the beginning everything went wrong at Omaha. Special tanks sank in choppy waters of the Channel, no unit of the 116th landed were it was planned as strong winds and tidal currents carried the landing crafts from right to left. By the end of the day, the Americans had suffered 2,400 casualties but had landed 34,000 troops. -
