How long does the Medoc wine tour last?
The Medoc wine tour is a half-day trip, typically lasting around 4 hours. It allows for an immersive experience in the region without taking up your entire day, making it perfect for those with limited time. -
Are reservations required for the Medoc wine tour?
Yes, reservations are required for the Medoc wine tour. Due to the popularity of the wineries and the limited availability of tours, it is recommended to book your tour in advance to secure your spot and ensure a seamless experience. -
Do you pick up at hotels?
All our scheduled/shared tours have a precise departure location that is mentioned on your voucher in each city. If you wish to be picked up at your accommodation then you will need to book a private tour. -
What happens if we do not find the meeting point?
You have to be at the meeting point at least 10 minutes prior to tour departure. If you are having difficulties finding the meeting point you must call us on our office number +33 556 152 609 so that we may help you find the exact area. Please note that tours leave on time and if you are not there at the designated area and indicated time the driver/guide will leave. Please refer to our terms and conditions for more information. -
What type of vehicles are used during a Bordeaux shared wine tour?
Our company uses only Mercedes Vito Tourer 8 seater minivans that are recent, comfortable and fully equipped including individual A/C, shaded windows, large leg space and on board P/A system for commentaries by the guide. -
Who conducts these Bordeaux Shared Wine tours?
We only employ accredited and licensed tour guides that are also the drivers for all tours that need visits to be conducted by certified guides. Good examples are: the visit of museums, guided walking tours in cities, visit of historical monuments and so on. In some regions, where wine tours prevail (Bordeaux, Alsace) the tours are conducted by professional local guides, that are experts in Wines. -
Can we choose which wineries we will visit on a shared Bordeaux Wine Tour?
No, unfortunately a scheduled tour is already pre-programmed and the wineries have been (carefully) selected. If you would like to visit some specific wineries while you are staying in Bordeaux then do not hesitate to book one of our Private Wine Tours from Bordeaux. -
Are there any restrictions or dress codes for the Medoc wine tour?
While there are no strict dress codes, it is recommended to dress comfortably and wear suitable footwear as there may be some walking involved during the winery visits. Additionally, participants must be of legal drinking age to participate in the wine tastings. -
Are the Winery Tours private?
During our scheduled/shared tours the visits at the wineries are not private and you may find yourself being grouped with others. Groups usually always remain in low numbers. If you are seeking a more exclusive Bordeaux Wine Tour then do not hesitate to book one of our private tours. We will organise a private visit just for you and your party.
Please note that on our shared Bordeaux Day Trips, Ophorus tours are always conducted in English during the tours or at the wineries. Unlike other providers we refuse to mix languages. -
How many / much wines are served in the Wineries?
In Bordeaux, the Wineries will typically serve 1 to 3 wines during the tasting sessions. It is always the wine produced by the chateau that will be tasted. Usually the first and second wine of the estate.
Important note: For all our guests who have experienced wine tours in other countries, please note that the average pour of wine in Bordeaux is less important than in other destinations. Even though we strive to work with Wineries that are more generous, they remain the only ones that can appreciate the quantity of wine poured in a glass. -
Can I purchase wines during the tour?
Yes, most wineries visited on the Medoc wine tour offer the opportunity to purchase their wines. Whether you're a connoisseur looking to expand your collection or a casual wine enthusiast, you'll have the chance to bring home some of the finest bottles from the Medoc region. -
What is a Medoc wine tour?
Discover the renowned Medoc wine region on a half-day tour from Bordeaux. Explore prestigious vineyards, learn about the winemaking process, and indulge in wine tastings of the region's celebrated red wines. -
What is a Margaux Wine?
Margaux wine refers to one of the most famous wines produced in the Bordeaux wine region called the Medoc. At its best, Margaux wine is the most seductive and perfumed of all Bordeaux wines. The grape varieties often found in Margaux wines are a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and to a lesser extent Cabernet Franc. Petit Verdot occasionally makes it into the blend but this being a very delicate grape to grow, the climate of the vintage has its importance.
Margaux wines have a complex bouquet with fruity aromas of raspberry, cherry, and red currant, but also floral, spicy, and roasted aromas. The wines on the palate are powerful and the ageing of the wines can last from 5 to 30 years. -
Can one visit Chateau Margaux?
Chateau Margaux is the lead winery located in the appellation that bears its name. This is certainly one of the most frequent questions that we have. YES, it is possible to visit Chateau Margaux. Don't hesitate to contact us at the time of planning your coming to Bordeaux. If you want to book Chateau Margaux just a few days before you arrive then forget it! To book a tour to Margaux, you need to take into consideration that the number of visits per day are limited as are the number of guests. All bookings must be made a long time ahead of your tour date. If you contact us directly, our dedicated team of Bordeaux Winery Bookings will be pleased to design your Bordeaux wine tour itinerary.
