Experience the beauty of the Alsace wine region with our private full-day tour, starting with a convenient pickup from your centrally located hotel or accommodation in Colmar. Meet our knowledgeable English-speaking driver guide, who will provide you with a detailed program and itinerary for the day.
Once aboard our comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, we'll set off on a journey through the enchanting Alsace vineyards.
Discover the Exquisite Grands Crus Wines of Alsace
Alsace is renowned for its exceptional wines, particularly the Grands Crus. These prestigious wines have been classified since 1975, featuring 51 designated areas that meet stringent geological and climatic criteria.
The Alsace Grand Cru appellation represents the pinnacle of quality, with limited terroirs, low yields, and specific vineyard practices ensuring expressive and authentic wines. These extraordinary vineyards range in size from 3 to 80 hectares. Only four grape varieties are used to produce Alsace Grands Crus wines: Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Muscat (Alsace variety). Immerse yourself in the world of these unique Grands Crus wines during an exceptional day in the Alsace wine region.
Our thoughtfully crafted full-day wine tour offers you the privilege of tasting some of the finest Alsace white wines. The journey begins in the Ribeauvillé wine-producing region, where you'll savor fabulous Rieslings from the Kirchberg, Geisberg, and Osterberg Grands Crus, known for their mineral character.
Ribeauvillé wines often boast higher mineral content compared to other Grand Cru Rieslings, reaching up to 2.5 g solids per liter. Notable wine producers such as Trimbach or Louis Sipp contribute to the excellence of these Grands Crus.
Next, we'll venture to the unique and lesser-known Kaefferkopf Grand Cru, nestled in the charming town of Ammerschwihr. This Grand Cru stands out with its complex geological composition, blending granite, shelly limestone, and sandstone. Depending on availability, we may also explore biodynamic winemaking at renowned wineries like Domaine de Weinbach or Domaine JB Adam, offering a glimpse into alternative agriculture practices.
In the southern part of the Alsace wine route, you'll discover emblematic Grands Crus such as Steinart, Goldert, and Hatschbourg. Delight in the local Muscat, characterized by its dry and highly aromatic profile, showcasing refreshing fruit flavors.
We'll also introduce you to exceptional Gewurztraminers from the Hatschbourg Grand Cru. These full-bodied wines exhibit a solid structure and round fullness, accompanied by an aromatic palette that often includes hints of licorice. From sweet to viscous, late harvest and Selection de Grains Nobles Gewurztraminers showcase extraordinary richness and aromatic complexity.
Throughout the tour, you'll have the opportunity to explore the beautiful villages of Alsace, immersing yourself in the region's traditions and culture. Our driver guide will provide insights and stories, enhancing your overall experience. For those interested in broader wine introductions, we offer additional wine tours featuring tastings of other grape varieties, such as Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir.
After the tour we will take you back to your accommodation in Colmar. Night at your hotel.Read moreRead less -
