Program & Itinerary
Join us for an unforgettable tour of Alsace, starting with a convenient pick-up at the centrally located Strasbourg Tourism Office. Situated at 17 Place de la Cathédrale, in the heart of the city next to the Cathedral, this meeting point offers easy access for all visitors, with most city center hotels just a short, leisurely walk away, typically within a 10-minute distance.
Meet Your Expert English-Speaking Driver/Guide
Upon arrival at the meeting point, you'll be warmly welcomed by your knowledgeable English-speaking guide, easily identifiable by a sign displaying the tour name and the distinctive Ophorus logo. Our guides also wear nominative badges, making them easily recognizable and ensuring a seamless introduction.
Once you've met your guide, they will provide a detailed overview of the day's program and itinerary. Step aboard our comfortable, air-conditioned Mercedes minivan, equipped with an onboard P/A system that ensures everyone can hear the guide's informative commentary throughout the journey, even if seated at the back.
Experience the Allure of Colmar, Eguisheim & Riquewihr
This meticulously designed tour showcases the must-visit attractions of Alsace, offering a delightful blend of stunning towns, picturesque villages, and breathtaking landscapes. Our first stop takes us to Colmar, hailed by Frommer's as one of the most attractive towns in the region. Situated in the border region between France and Germany, Colmar boasts a well-preserved old town, notable architectural landmarks, and captivating museums, including the renowned Unterlinden Museum with its magnificent Isenheim Altarpiece.
Explore the enchanting "Little Venice" neighborhood, adorned with charming half-timbered houses along the Lauch River, and visit landmarks such as the Maison des Tetes, the Koifhus, the Pfister House, Saint Martin Church, and the covered market. You'll also learn about Bartholdi, the sculptor behind the Statue of Liberty, who was born in Colmar in 1834.
Continuing our journey, we arrive at the picturesque village of Eguisheim, embraced by vineyards. Stroll through its narrow, concentric streets, marveling at the architectural beauty of its half-timbered houses adorned with vibrant flowers. Our next destination is the captivating town of Riquewihr, surrounded by ramparts and remarkably preserved from war and destruction. Explore its charming streets, fortified walls, and well-preserved 16th-century houses, experiencing the remarkable architectural harmony. Enjoy some free time for personal exploration and indulge in a delightful lunch.
Embark on the Scenic Alsace Wine Route
Immerse yourself in the splendor of the Alsace Wine Route, nestled between the Rhine Valley and the Vosges mountain range. This iconic route, over 60 years old, winds its way for more than 170 kilometers, guiding you through rolling vine-covered hills, quaint villages with narrow streets, and picturesque houses adorned with flowers. Capture the essence of this charming region as you marvel at the stunning landscapes and immerse yourself in its rich viticultural heritage.
Visit the Majestic Haut Koenigsbourg Castle
Our final destination is the magnificent Haut Koenigsbourg Castle, a formidable fortress perched on a hilltop, commanding breathtaking views of the valley. Dating back to the 12th century, this strategic stronghold controlled vital trade routes, including the wine and wheat routes to the North and the salt route from the East. Follow your guide on an informative tour of this historic castle, delving into its fascinating history and admiring its architectural grandeur. After an enriching day exploring the Pearls of Alsace, we'll return to Strasbourg, leaving you with lasting memories of this enchanting region.
