Program & Itinerary
Private Half-Day Gold Beach Tour from Bayeux
Travel from Bayeux on a private half-day D-Day tour dedicated to the British sector at Gold Beach, between Asnelles and Ver-sur-Mer. With an expert English-speaking guide, you’ll walk the historic shoreline where the 50th (Northumbrian) Division landed on 6 June 1944 and hear vivid stories of courage, strategy and sacrifice that defined the day.
Walk the Sands of Gold Beach
Begin on the sands of Gold Beach, one of the five Allied landing beaches of Normandy. As you look along the coast from Asnelles toward Ver-sur-Mer, your guide explains how the sectors were organised, what British troops faced under fire, and how their advance helped link the American and Canadian forces on either side.
Discover Arromanches and the Mulberry Harbour
Continue to Arromanches-les-Bains to see the remains of “Mulberry B”, the Allied artificial harbour built off Gold Beach to supply British and Canadian troops. From seafront or clifftop viewpoints, you’ll learn how this engineering feat allowed thousands of tons of vehicles, fuel and equipment to be unloaded, turning Gold Beach into a crucial logistical hub for the Battle of Normandy.
Pay Tribute at the British Normandy Memorial
The tour culminates at the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer, overlooking Gold Beach and the Mulberry Harbour remains. Here you’ll walk among pale stone columns engraved with the names of over 22,000 men and women under British command who died during the Normandy campaign, taking time to reflect, photograph the views and honour their memory.
Travel in Comfort with a Private Guide
Throughout this half-day itinerary, you travel in a comfortable private vehicle from Bayeux, with hotel or central pick-up available. Your guide shares clear explanations, personal accounts and answers to your questions in English, creating an intimate, flexible experience that goes far beyond what you’ll find in guidebooks or museums alone.

Our tour ended up as a private one as no one else signed up for our time slot. So we had Matt all to ourselves. He was a fantastic guide and educator... -
