Program & Itinerary
Meet Your Expert D-Day Guide
Meet your English-speaking local guide in Bayeux, a specialist in the Normandy landings and D-Day, who will introduce the key sites and schedule of your private half-day tour. Travel in a spacious, air-conditioned Mercedes minivan reserved just for your party, equipped with Wi‑Fi, bottled water and an audio system so you can clearly hear the commentary from any seat.
Discover Omaha Beach and Pointe du Hoc
Your D-Day experience begins along the coastal battlefield road at Omaha Beach, the most heavily defended of the landing beaches, where your guide brings to life the challenges faced by American troops on 6 June 1944. Continue to Pointe du Hoc, where U.S. Rangers scaled 30‑metre cliffs under fire to neutralize German positions; walking among bomb craters and bunkers, you can still see the scars of intense bombardments.
Pay Tribute at the Normandy American Cemetery
End the tour at the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, overlooking Omaha Beach, where rows of white crosses honor the American soldiers who fell in the Battle of Normandy. You’ll have time to reflect, visit the Visitor Center to deepen your understanding of the D-Day landings, and then relax on the drive back to Bayeux.

FAQ
-
What should I wear and bring?
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended as some sites involve walking on uneven terrain, grass, or sand. Dress in layers as the Normandy coast can be cool and windy even in summer. Bringing a light rain jacket is always advisable. -
Is entrance to the sites included?
The Normandy American Cemetery and Omaha Beach are free to visit. Pointe du Hoc (or its replacement) may have an associated entry fee. Please check your booking confirmation for full details on what is included. -
Can the itinerary be customized?
As a private tour, the itinerary can be adapted to your interests. If you would like to spend more time at a particular site, skip a stop, or add a specific location, speak to your guide — adjustments are made wherever time and logistics allow. -
Is this tour suitable for children?
Yes. The tour is suitable for older children and teenagers with an interest in history. The content deals with themes of war and remembrance, which parents should consider when booking with younger children. The pace is flexible and can be adapted to suit families. -
Is the guide English-speaking?
Yes. Your guide is a local expert who conducts the tour exclusively in English, with in-depth knowledge of WWII history, the D-Day landings, and the Battle of Normandy. -
What sites are visited on this tour?
The tour visits Omaha Beach, the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, and Pointe du Hoc. Please note that access to Pointe du Hoc may be limited in 2026 and 2027 due to ongoing construction works. If a visit is not possible, it will be replaced by Longues-sur-Mer Battery, a well-preserved German coastal artillery position. -
Is this tour really private?
Yes. This tour is 100% private — your group will not be joined by other travelers. The vehicle, guide, and itinerary are exclusively yours for the duration of the experience. -
How long is the tour?
This is a half-day tour, typically lasting between 4 and 5 hours depending on traffic, site accessibility, and the pace preferred by your group. -
Where does the tour depart from?
The tour departs from Bayeux. Pick-up is available directly from your hotel, accommodation, or the Bayeux train station. Your guide meets you at the agreed location at the start time.
