STOP ON THE WAY IN PECH MERLE CAVE

Depart from Toulouse and reach the village of Cabrerets where the cave of Pech Merle is located. Upon arrival, join a guided visit of the Pech Merle cave. The cave is famous for the Prehistoric artwork that one can contemplate inside. More than 70 animal pictures interact with the relief of the rock, colours and light. The mammoth is the most frequently represented animal, with 28 examples. The only representation of a bear is a strikingly realistic engraving done with a flint tool. The painting of the spotted horses is a unique composition, an exceptionally well-preserved masterpiece dating back 29,000 years. In total, almost 800 representations have been counted in the cave. These representations, associated with negative hands and prehistoric footprints, create a moving sense of closeness to our far distant human ancestors. After the visit it will be time to leave for the village of Saint Cirq Lapopie.

REACH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE OF SAINT CIRQ LAPOPIE 

After a short drive from Pech Merle cave, follow the River Lot to reach the small village of Saint Cirq Lapopie. Perched high above the River, the medieval village emerges from the rock 100 metres above the river. It winds downhill in a veritable cascade of little paved lanes, Gothic façades, fortified gates and hollyhocks. Once host to a prosperous river trade, and renowned for its woodturners, Saint Cirq Lapopie has not only conserved its heritage but also retained an irresistible charm. Shops, restaurants and cafés shelter from the sun in the shade of Gothic arches, and the place forms a harmonious whole which won the election for the Favourite Village of the French in 2012!

All prices quoted are for 2 to 7 passengers. For larger groups, please contact us as we can provide larger sized vehicles such as a minibus or coach. Each passenger can have one large bag (29 x 21 x 11 inches) and one hand bag. If you have oversized luggage, or are unsure if your luggage will fit, you can contact us as we have low cost options to have your baggage transported in another vehicle.
