Meet your local Tour Guide

Upon arrival at the meeting point, you will be welcomed by your English speaking guide who will be waiting with a sign bearing the name of the tour and with the Ophorus logo on it. Also, all our guides have a nominative badge so that it will be easy for you to recognize them.

Once you have met your guide, he/she will go over the program and itinerary of the day with you. Then board your premium, air conditioned vehicle and begin to make your way to visit local Alsace villages.

All our vehicles are equipped with an on board P/A system which means that everyone will hear the guide's commentary during driving time, even if you are seated in the back of the van! Also, we have bottled water at your disposal and you can use our free wifi as you travel from one destination to another.

Discover the unique Alsace Wine Route

Follow the Alsace wine route. This famous Wine Route of France proudly winds through Alsace from North to South for more than 170kms. Along the way, it is more than 1000 wine makers that create some of the most aromatic white wines of France. The Wine Route is also lined with Castles, Renaissance Buildings and picture perfect charming villages.

Visit the small village of Barr

Your tour continues with the visit of several villages mentioned above. Barr, located close to Obernai, is famous for its surrounding vineyards where local Sylvaner, Riesling and Gewurztraminer are produced. Here, you will certainly notice the fine architecture of the town hall and not miss the ‘Marco Folie’, an 18th C. house that has been transformed into a museum.

Reach the village of Mittlebergheim

At the foot of Mont Saint-Odile, in a landscape of vineyards, this stronghold of the Zotzenberg grand cru is definitely marked by its wine culture: from the architecture of its winegrowers' houses opening onto large courtyards, to the precious “Weinschlag” collection containing a wealth of information on the vineyard and wine since 1510, which can be found behind the doors of the charming Renaissance town hall. Upon arrival, visit this lovely village with your guide.

End the tour in Andlau

Finally end the tour with the visit of Andlau. This pretty little town is dotted with old houses but the most important landmark here is the 9th C. Saint Peter - Saint Paul Abbatial Church. Destroyed in 1045 after a fire, rebuilt in the 12th C., only just a few parts remain from those times. Of these, the Church Portal is decorated with beautiful Romanesque Sculptures while a historiated frieze stretches across the façade.

DECEMBER 2022:

Please note that due to the actual, exceptional and unpredictable bad weather conditions, the itinerary and program may change during the tour. The guides will do their best to adapt the tours to your preferences and your security as well.

FAQ

  • Do you pick up at hotels on your Alsace shared tours?

All our scheduled/shared tours have a precise departure location that is mentioned on your voucher in each city. If you wish to be picked up at your accommodation then you will need to book a private tour.
  • What happens if we do not find the meeting point for our Shared Alsace Villages Tour?

You have to be at the meeting point at least 10 minutes prior to tour departure. If you are having difficulties finding the meeting point you must call us on our office number +33 556 152 609 so that we may help you find the exact area. Please note that tours leave on time and if you are not there at the designated area and indicated time the driver/guide will leave. Please refer to our terms and conditions for more information.
  • What type of vehicles are used during a day trip from Strasbourg?

Our company uses only Mercedes Vito Tourer 8 seater minivans that are recent, comfortable and fully equipped including individual A/C, shaded windows, large leg space and on board P/A system for commentaries by the guide. All guests can hear the commentaries wherever they are seated.
  • Who conducts these Day Trips from Strasbourg?

We only employ accredited and licensed tour guides that are also the drivers, for all tours that need visits to be conducted by certified guides. Good examples are: the visit of museums, guided walking tours in cities, visit of historical monuments and so on. In Alsace, the guides are experts in local history, architecture and local way of life.

In some regions, where wine tours prevail (Bordeaux, Alsace) the tours are conducted by professional local guides, that are experts in Wines.
  • Can we choose which village we will visit on a shared Alsace Villages Tour?

All our shared tours have been carefully designed and pre-programmed so that you may participate in the most interesting visits. If you would like to customize your tour, then don't hesitate to contact us and our travel designers will create a program just for you.
