Program & Itinerary
Depart to Germany, experience the local wines of the Baden Wine Route
Discover the German wine route known as the badische weinstrasse on this full day private tour departing from Strasbourg. Located along the border between Germany and France, this famous wine road stretches from Heidelberg to Baden-Baden in the northern part of the Black Forest. It then reaches the Swiss border next to Weil Am Rhein and Basel. The Baden Wine Road not only offers great wine tasting opportunities, it is also one of the most scenic roads of Germany running through the Black Forest and sunny valleys.
Today we will come and pick you up at your accommodation in Strasbourg. First, meet your English speaking driver/guide who will begin by presenting the day's itinerary to your group. You will then board your recent and comfortable A/C minivan and drive a short time before reaching the German border. The baden wine route follows the black forest and offers breathtaking landscapes. Along the itinerary you will admire local half timbered houses, vineyards, wine villages, castles, ruins and monasteries.
Reach Oberkirch, participate in your first tasting
Your first stop of the day will be in Oberkirch or the surrounding area. The town is charming and was the possession of the Bishops of Strasbourg during centuries. Surrounded by vineyards, orchards and forest the historic center still retains lovely half timbered houses dating back to the 17th century. Here, you will partake in your first wine tasting session of the day. Here the different grape varieties include Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Spätburgunder also known as Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer, Grauer Burgunder or Pinot Gris and many other. So just follow your guide who will select a local winery so that you may enjoy the delicious wines produced here including red wine or white wine. This part of Germany is famous for its wine festival.
Drive through Amazing landscapes and visit small villages
After the visit and wine tasting session of the morning, it will be time to move on. Depending on the weather conditions it will be possible to stop along the vineyards and take a small stroll to take a look at what is going on in the vines. Another option is to reach the village of Sasbachwalden that was chosen as one of the most beautiful villages of Germany. Located on the western slope of the black forest , it is characterized by its heritage protected historical center and the unique floral decoration of the village. After a short walk in the village you will have some free time for personal discovery. This is also a great location for a lunch in a local restaurant where one can taste regional delicacies like Black Forest cured meats or the famous Black Forest Cake!
Enjoy a second wine tasting before returning to Strasbourg
In the afternoon, you will participate in another wine tasting session in a carefully selected winery located in a different wine growing region so that you may get another opportunity to taste the different wines of the region. After the wine tasting session, you will return to your accommodation in Strasbourg.
