Program & Itinerary
Both Banks of Bordeaux in One Day: Left Bank Médoc & Right Bank Saint-Émilion
This private full-day wine tour is designed for those who want to experience the best of Bordeaux's two most celebrated wine regions in a single day. Starting on the Left Bank with the structured, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon blends of the Médoc, before crossing to the Right Bank for the silky, Merlot-dominant wines of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol — this tour offers an unmatched introduction to the full breadth of Bordeaux wine.
Meet Your Expert Guide & Depart from Bordeaux
Your day begins with pickup from your hotel or accommodation in Bordeaux, where you'll meet your WSET-certified English-speaking driver/guide, an expert in Bordeaux wines. Board a comfortable, air-conditioned Mercedes minivan (up to 8 guests) with an onboard PA system for clear commentary throughout the day.
Morning: The Médoc — Left Bank Cabernet Sauvignon Country
Depart into the Médoc wine region, located on the left bank of the Gironde Estuary. This prestigious appellation stretches approximately 60 km from north to south and encompasses the celebrated communes of Saint-Estèphe, Pauillac, Saint-Julien, and Margaux — home to some of the world's most iconic classified châteaux. With around 10,600 hectares of vineyards producing some 50 million litres of red wine annually, the Médoc's dominant grape is Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
Visit a carefully selected Grand Cru Classé, Château, or Cru Bourgeois estate. Your guide leads a tour of the technical installations and cellars, explaining the transformation from grape to wine, before a commented tasting session that highlights the structure, terroir, and ageing potential distinctive to the Left Bank.
Afternoon: Saint-Émilion — Right Bank Merlot & the UNESCO Village
Cross the Gironde and enter the world of Right Bank wines. The Saint-Émilion and Pomerol appellations are dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc. The region's unique combination of clay and limestone soils produces wines of remarkable elegance and ageing potential — a striking contrast to the gravel-driven power of the Médoc.
Visit a carefully selected winery in the Saint-Émilion appellation for a guided cellar tour and commented tasting. Afterwards, explore the UNESCO World Heritage village of Saint-Émilion on a short guided walk through its medieval cobbled streets, with free time to discover the village independently before the return to Bordeaux.

Common grape varieties used in the blend include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot but can also include Petit Verdot, Malbec or Carmenere. Some of the most famous red wines of Bordeaux are produced in the Médoc such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Latour. -
What is a Margaux Wine?
Margaux wine refers to one of the most famous wines produced in the Bordeaux wine region called the Medoc. At its best, Margaux wine is the most seductive and perfumed of all Bordeaux wines. The grape varieties often found in Margaux wines are a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and to a lesser extent Cabernet Franc. Petit Verdot occasionally makes it into the blend but this being a very delicate grape to grow, the climate of the vintage has its importance.
Margaux wines have a complex bouquet with fruity aromas of raspberry, cherry, and red currant, but also floral, spicy, and roasted aromas. The wines on the palate are powerful and the ageing of the wines can last from 5 to 30 years.

How many Bordeaux wines will I taste during this tour?
Unlike other wine tasting sessions that you might have followed around the world, the tastings in Bordeaux are not as generous in terms of pours . The amount of wine tasted is not what many would expect but here it is all about elegance, fruit, quality, aromas and flavors rather than quantity.
Each Chateau will have you taste their premium wine and what we call the 'second' wine of the estate. Sometimes, Chateau owners also add a tasting of some other wine if they happen to be the owners of another Chateau in Bordeaux. So basically, at each winery visited it will be 2 to maximum 4 wines tasted.
If you wish to taste more wine, lunch in Saint Emilion is a perfect location to sample other appellations - it is easy to order wines by the glass. To further enhance your wine experience, it is always possible to buy some bottles at the wineries visited. Bordeaux has also a very large number of wine bars where you can enjoy a further tasting experience. Ask your guide for great recommendations. -

No, we never include lunch on our private tours. However, if you would like to include lunch don't hesitate to reach out to us and we will be happy to make the necessary arrangements for you.
