Private Half-Day Tour from Strasbourg: Wines, Villages or Both
In the morning or afternoon, your guide will pick you up directly at your accommodation in Strasbourg. Meet your English-speaking driver/guide, who will present the itinerary and discuss your preferences. This private half-day tour is fully customizable, so you can focus on Alsatian wines, authentic villages, or a combination of both.
Taste some of the most interesting wines of Alsace
Set out along the Alsace Wine Route for a half-day tour to discover some of France’s most distinctive wines. Renowned for its aromatic whites, the region benefits from a dry, sunny climate, varied geology, well-drained soils, and excellent vineyard exposures.
During this wine-focused option, you will stop at two carefully selected wineries for guided tastings. Learn about the seven main Alsace grape varieties and sample wines such as Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner, and Muscat while your host explains local traditions, terroirs, and food pairings.
Or visit some of the most authentic Alsace villages
If you prefer to concentrate on scenery and heritage, your small-group half-day trip will follow the northern section of the Alsace Wine Route toward some of the region’s most charming villages surrounded by vineyards. One of the first stops is often Barr, a superb village that still preserves sections of its medieval walls and once lay on the historic salt route.
Little known to most visitors and therefore rarely crowded, Barr is a favourite for those who want a genuine feel of Alsace. Its historic centre is lined with flower-decked half-timbered houses and winding cobbled lanes. Depending on time and your interests, your guide may also include Mittelbergheim, with its handsome Rue Principale, Gothic churches and geranium-covered façades, or Andlau, renowned for its 9th‑century abbey.
Or why not combine the two options?
This flexible tour allows you to mix and match according to your tastes. You might choose, for example, to visit one or two authentic villages and include a single winery stop for a tasting along the way. Your guide will be happy to adapt the route and timing to your wishes and suggest the best options based on the season and opening times.
We recommend letting us know your preferences in advance, but a brief discussion with your guide at the start of the tour is often the easiest way to fine‑tune the program of your private half-day excursion from Strasbourg.
Extend your Alsace experience
After the tour, you will be dropped back in Strasbourg. To continue exploring the region, consider our full‑day “Pearls of Alsace” tour, which includes Haut‑Koenigsbourg Castle, Colmar, and Eguisheim, or opt for additional day trips to famous wine villages such as Riquewihr or Kaysersberg.
