While we drive through beautiful countryside and past vineyards, there are no formal winery visits or tasting sessions included, making it perfect for those who want to focus entirely on Burgundy's medieval history. • Does the tour still run if it rains?

  Yes, the tour runs rain or shine. The villages are just as atmospheric in the mist, and many of the stops (like the abbey in Flavigny or the church in Semur) provide indoor exploration.

• Can children join this village tour?

  Absolutely! This tour is very family-friendly. Children often enjoy the "scavenger hunt" feel of the medieval streets and the stories of knights and fortresses in Châteauneuf. Please let us know if you require a car seat for the vehicle.

• What makes the village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain special?

  Flavigny is officially one of "The Most Beautiful Villages of France" and is famous as the filming location for the movie Chocolat. It is also the only place in the world that produces the famous Anis de Flavigny mints—we will visit the historic abbey where they have been made since 1591.

• Will we go inside the Château de Châteauneuf?

  Our tour includes time to explore the fortified village and admire the exterior architecture of the 12th-century castle. Depending on the day's schedule, you may have free time to enter the castle for a self-guided tour (entrance fees are typically not included unless specified).

• Is lunch included in the tour?

  Lunch is not included in the price, allowing you the freedom to choose your own dining experience. We typically stop in the medieval town of Semur-en-Auxois for lunch, and your guide will be happy to recommend local bistros that serve authentic Burgundian specialties like Boeuf Bourguignon or Escargots.

• Are the villages accessible for travelers with limited mobility?

  While we strive to make the tour as accessible as possible, these medieval villages are often hilly with uneven stone paths and stairs. Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, in particular, is a hilltop fortress. Please contact us in advance if you have mobility concerns so we can discuss the best way to accommodate you.

• How much walking is involved in the tour?

  Since we are exploring three historic villages—Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, Semur-en-Auxois, and Châteauneuf-en-Auxois—there is a significant amount of walking. Most streets are medieval cobblestones, so we highly recommend wearing comfortable, flat walking shoes.
