Arriving in Côte de Beaune
Soon you arrive in the Côte de Beaune, the southern half of the Côte d’Or, a renowned Burgundy sub‑region that stretches for around 20–25 kilometers and produces both red and white wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This historic area, once referred to as “vin de Beaune”, was formally classified under the AOC system in the 1930s and today includes illustrious Grands Crus such as Corton, Corton‑Charlemagne and Montrachet, alongside villages with Premier Cru climats including Aloxe‑Corton, Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Chassagne‑Montrachet and Santenay.
