The Heart of Bordeaux on Foot

Place de la Bourse
The elegant Place de la Bourse, built between 1730 and 1755 under the direction of architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, is one of the finest neoclassical ensembles in France. Facing the Garonne River, its symmetrical facades and sculptural detail set the architectural tone for the rest of the city. In front of it, the famous Miroir d'Eau — the world's largest reflecting pool — creates one of the most photographed views in southwest France.
The Grand Théâtre
Completed in 1780 by architect Victor Louis, the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux is widely considered one of the finest opera houses in Europe and a defining example of French neoclassical architecture. Its twelve Corinthian columns and monumental facade were a direct source of inspiration for Charles Garnier when he designed the Paris Opéra. Your guide will meet you directly at your hotel or accommodation in Bordeaux. If you are coming from outside, we will set a convenient meeting point for you. The end of your guided walking tour in Bordeaux will take place in the city center. -
Are your Bordeaux Walks adapted to everyone?
Our Bordeaux walking tours involve an important amount of walking. Even though our walking tours tend to stay on easy to walk sidewalks and streets, the city of Bordeaux still has some cobbledstone streets that are difficult to walk on. Therefore we strongly advise that you book this tour only if you are in a good physical condition. This tour is certainly not adapted to persons who have walking difficulties and it is not wheelchair accessible. -
