Program & Itinerary
Departing from Honfleur Cruise Port, this private full-day D-Day tour takes you to the historic Normandy coastal battlefields, where the Allied landings of June 6, 1944 marked the beginning of France’s liberation. Travel with an expert English-speaking guide and explore some of the most emblematic sites of the American sector.
Pick Up from Your Cruise Ship in Honfleur Your guide will meet you directly at your cruise ship in Honfleur. After a short briefing on the itinerary, board your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and begin the drive toward the Normandy coastline where the D-Day landings took place. As this is a private tour, the schedule is flexible and can be adapted to your interests and timing, while still covering the key highlights of the region.
Omaha Beach One of your main stops is Omaha Beach, the best-known and deadliest of the American landing sectors. Despite heavy pre-invasion bombardments, many German defenses remained intact, and troops and amphibious vehicles were often landed too far from the shore.
Your guide will explain how these factors, combined with strong enemy resistance, led to very high casualties and made Omaha the toughest beach of Operation Overlord. Walking along the sands and looking up at the bluffs, you gain a clearer understanding of the challenges faced by the soldiers who fought here and how the battle eventually turned in favor of the Allies.
Pointe du Hoc (or Longues-sur-Mer Battery) When access permits, your tour includes a visit to Pointe du Hoc, the dramatic cliff-top position between Utah and Omaha Beaches where U.S. Rangers scaled the cliffs under fire to neutralize German artillery threatening the invasion fleet. Among bomb craters, concrete casemates and ruined bunkers, your guide will highlight the strategic importance of this strongpoint and the extraordinary courage shown on D-Day.
⚠️ Please note: Due to road and construction works at Pointe du Hoc, access to the site may be limited in 2026 & 2027. If the site is closed, the visit will be replaced by the Longues-sur-Mer Battery, one of the best-preserved German coastal artillery positions in Normandy, offering original guns, intact casemates and sweeping views over the Bay of the Seine, as well as a clear understanding of how German defenses covered the landing beaches.
Normandy American Cemetery Your tour also includes a stop at the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, located on the site of the first American cemetery established in Europe after the landings. Overlooking Omaha Beach, this moving memorial honors thousands of American soldiers who fell during the Battle of Normandy. You have time to walk among the perfectly aligned white crosses, visit the memorial and reflecting pool, and, when possible, explore the Visitor Center to place the D-Day operations in their wider historical context.
After your visits, you return to Honfleur for drop-off at your ship. Throughout the day, your certified English-speaking driver-guide is by your side to share historical insights, answer questions and adapt the pace of the tour. The itinerary can be customized within the available time, making this shore excursion a flexible and enriching way to discover Normandy’s D-Day beaches and remembrance sites.

Know before you book
Due to ongoing renovation works, Pointe du Hoc may not be accessible during part of 2026 & 2027. In the event of site closure, the visit will be replaced with another major D-Day location, such as Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, Angoville or Carentan.
This alternative site offers a similar historical significance. Your guide will ensure you enjoy a meaningful and informative experience, whichever site is available on the day of your tour.
If you want to share your tour with others, you can put it on Cruise Critic. Most of the time this gives good results. You must do this yourself as we are not accepted on their site as a professional business. We accept split payment transactions by credit card.
