Walking tour of Sète – the “Venice of the South”
Enjoy a guided walking tour of Sète, often called the “southern Venice” of France for its picturesque canals and bridges. Stroll along the waterfront and through the lively covered food market to discover local specialties (tastings at own expense) such as tielle (octopus and tomato seafood pie), regional cheeses, olives, cured meats, and traditional Zézette de Sète biscuits. As you walk, your guide will point out key landmarks including Mont Saint-Clair and panoramic viewpoints over the Thau Lagoon.
Visit an oyster and shellfish farm
Continue with a visit to an authentic oyster and shellfish farm on the Étang de Thau. Learn how oysters and mussels are cultivated in this unique saltwater lagoon, then sit back and enjoy a tasting of 6 fresh oysters paired with a glass of crisp local Picpoul de Pinet white wine, all while admiring beautiful views of the lagoon and Mont Saint-Clair.
Free time for lunch
After the oyster tasting, enjoy free time for lunch (at own expense). You may choose to stay and dine at the farm, which offers a selection of seafood dishes, or opt for a local restaurant in Sète that can be pre-booked for you.
Languedoc wine tasting at a family-owned estate
In the afternoon, head to a family-owned winery in the Languedoc wine region. Learn about the history and production of local wines as you explore the vineyards and cellar. Please note: In France, snacks are usually not provided during wine tastings to preserve the purity of the wine's flavor. We recommend having a good breakfast or lunch beforehand.
