Program & Itinerary
Discover the Gaillac Wine Region on a Small Group Guided Tour
Explore one of France’s oldest wine regions, Gaillac, on this small group half-day tour from Toulouse. With winemaking roots dating back to the 2nd century B.C., the Gaillac area is characterized by rolling hills, picturesque vineyards, and a remarkably diverse range of wines shaped by its varied terroirs.
Morning or Afternoon Departure from Toulouse
Start your wine adventure with a convenient pickup from a centrally located meeting point in Toulouse. Meet your friendly English-speaking driver-guide, who will outline the itinerary and share useful tips for the visit. Then travel in comfort aboard a premium, air-conditioned minivan as you head to the Gaillac wine region, just a short drive north of Toulouse.
Explore the Gaillac Wine Region
Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the heart of Gaillac’s winemaking traditions. Thanks to its mix of river terraces, clay-limestone slopes, and warm climate, the region produces a wide variety of styles, including:
- Perlé: A lightly fizzy, aromatic white wine that is a hallmark of Gaillac.
- Characterful reds and refreshing rosés made from local and classic varieties.
- Dry and sweet whites, as well as traditional-method sparkling wines.
Your guided tour includes visits to two handpicked wineries, chosen for their quality and authenticity. Learn about the winemaking process, the influence of terroir, and the unique local grape varieties such as Braucol, Duras, Mauzac, and Loin de l’Oeil, which give Gaillac wines their distinctive personality.
Wine Tastings at Two Wineries
At each estate, enjoy a commented tasting led by the winemaker or cellar host. Sample a selection of cuvées that may include whites, rosés, reds, and sparkling wines, allowing you to compare different styles and grape varieties.
Your guide will help you understand tasting techniques, key aromas, and how Gaillac wines pair with regional dishes from southwest France. This is also an ideal moment to ask questions and, if you wish, purchase bottles to take home.
Return to Toulouse
After a memorable experience in the Gaillac vineyards and cellars, relax as your guide drives you back to Toulouse. The small group format ensures an intimate, engaging atmosphere throughout the tour.
This half-day excursion is perfect for wine lovers and curious travelers who want to discover a historic yet lesser-known wine region of southern France without the stress of driving or planning.
