Visit the highest castle of France 

Welcome to historic Anjou region of France that will be on your program today. After a short drive, reach the first Loire Valley Castle, Chateau de Brissac. The Palace of the Dukes of Brissac is the highest Chateau of France measuring around 48 meters high.

It is flanked by two massive medieval towers, with a Baroque type façade and Toscan style Pilasters - Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. There are no less than 204 rooms that cover 8000 square meters and that include a theater. The parc is also a delight to visit.

Enjoy a guided tour of the Chateau that is owned by the same family since the 16th century. 518 years later the descendants of René de Cossé still live in the Chateau - the Marquis and Marquise with their four children.

Lunch in a local restaurant (at own expense)

After the visit of Chateau de Brissac, follow the Loire River and admire the landscape. Along the way, stop in a local village where it will be time for lunch. We have selected a local restaurant for you with a terrace that overlooks the Loire River. Taste local food and pair it with Loire Valley wines.

Visit & Wine tasting in Loire Valley Winery

The Loire valley wine region extends from the west of Nantes to the City of Bourges to the East and is the 3rd largest appellation region of France. The largest production consists in white wines but the area also produces Rosé, Reds and Sparkling wines. More than 300 million bottles of wine are sold every year mainly in France but also around the world.

After your lunch, we will take you to a local winery that is also a historical domain. Built at the beginning of the 17th century near Nantes and close to the Loire, the Château is surrounded by 45 hectares of vines and 5 hectares of woods. This exceptional place invites you to discover its vineyard full of history, to visit its cellars and to taste its wine. Local wines include Muscadet from Sèvre et Maine as well as Chardonnay or lesser known Chardonnay Muscaté.

After the visit and wine tasting, it will be time to head back towards Nantes. Drop off at your Cruise Ship in Nantes Port of Call and end of our services.
