Program & Itinerary
Drive to Cassis and discover the little ‘Saint-Tropez’ of Provence, a former fishermen village located in a beautifull wine region bordering the Mediterranean sea.
Cassis village visit
Arrive in Cassis and discover this cute small fishing port as well as the Calanques listed by Unesco as a world heritage national park. The land & sea area is known for its white cliffs and turquoise water. Then reach the highest sea cliff in Europe that is named Cape Canaille where you will enjoy a stunning view over the bay. Enjoy some free time for personal discovery in the village, relax on the beach or board a motor boat for a highly recommended 45-minute cruise (tickets not included) to admire the natural beauty of the local creeks.
The Calanques
The Calanques are rock formations that are located between the City of Marseille and the small port village of Cassis. The rocky cliffs that line the coast are interspersed with small inlets that have been carved our from the limestone. These make up small bays that are difficult to reach by foot and are a wonder to admire by sea. The whole area is now protected as a National Park. The park, which was created on the 18th of April 2012, is France’s 10th national park and the first in Europe to include land, sea and an urban area all in one. The Calanques National Park is home to no less than 140 protected animal and plant species 60 of wich are marine heritage species.
An optional boat ride in the Calanques
One of the main highlights of Cassis is to board a boat and take part in a 45 minute excursion that will take you to the Calanques of Cassis. From Cassis, embark for the visit of 3 Calanques departing directly from the village. During your boat excursion you will be able to see Calanque d'En Vau, Calanque de Port-Pin and Calanque de Port-Miou. There are also other options for those that would like to take a longer tour. Excursions range from 45 minutes to 2 hours.
By default we have selected the 45 minute Calanques Boat ride. You can purchase your tickets directly on our web site. During the booking process all you need to do is to add the tickets to your booking and our team of travel experts will do the rest.
In Cassis, you will have some free time for personal discovery.
