Meet your English speaking driver/guide
In the morning, meet your English speaking guide who is an expert on Alsace and the Black Forest and who will go over the itinerary and program with you. Then, board your spacious, comfortable, air conditioned Mercedes minivan and begin to make your way to the Freiburg im Breisgau, in the Black Forest.
Travel in a spacious Mercedes minivan
Your private Tour will take place in one of our very spacious Mercedes Minivans. This vehicle can take up to 8 persons normally but on this occasion, the vehicle will only be for you. This allows you to choose the seat that you think best in terms of social distancing while still enjoying the information passed on by your guide.
All our vehicles are equipped with an on board P/A system that allows you to hear the commentary of your driver/guide no matter where you are seated. Also, there is free Wi-Fi access on all tour vehicles. Bottled water is also available in all our vehicles.
Depart for the town of Freiburg
Leave the Alsace region on this full day tour and head towards southern Germany. Discover the University town of Freiburg, a town known for its ancient university and its medieval minster (Cathedral), for its cobbled plazas, its high standard of living and advanced environmental practices. This medieval town is situated in the heart of a major wine-growing region and is the primary entry point to the scenic beauty of the Black Forest.
The town has more to offer than friendly faces alone, including one of Germany’s prettiest old quarters, with its characteristic Bächle – the narrow channels of water that run alongside the pavements. Highlights of the town include the Freiburg Minster located on Münsterplatz square, the Augustinian Museum as well as Schlossberg. Add to that a wealth of culture and history, lots of cafés and cosy bars, delicious regional food and scenic surroundings. This morning, follow your guide on a walking tour to discover all the main monuments and sights of the town.
Then a trip through the Black Forest
After some free time for personal discovery and lunch at your own expense, your day tour from Strasbourg will head towards the scenic route of the Black Forest. The Black Forest is a wooded mountain range bordered by the Rhine valley to the west and south. The highest peak is the Feldberg with an elevation of 1,493 meters (4,898 feet). The name Black Forest comes from the general dark color of the numerous pine trees that grow in this region. The Black Forest cake and the cuckoo clocks originate from this region.
It is said that it is the Black Forest that inspired the Brother Grimm the Hansel & Gretel fairy tale. The Black Forest gateau and the cuckoo clocks originate from this region. Here, you will follow the scenic route and stop in a small quaint village that borders one of the most beautiful lakes of the area. You might want to try the local food such as cured meats or the world-famous Black Forest cake that leaves nobody indifferent!After the visit return to Strasbourg.
