We booked a tour through the Bordeaux tourist office and had a fantastic day out using this company. Our guide, Alain, was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information about the area as well as about the places we visited. We were able to cover a lot of things during the day and the tours of the vineyards that we visited were well organised, and informative. I would use this company again.

This is an excellent tour, with visits to two very different wineries and a stop in the village of Saint-Émilion for lunch and sightseeing. In the morning we toured the Château Franc Mayne, a large winery that uses limestone caves to age its wine. In the afternoon, we visited a small family winery, Château Croix des Rouzes, where we had a delightful visit with the proprietor and his mother. Overall, we felt this tour was a cost-effective and relaxing alternative to renting a car and driving ourselves. Also, our tour guide was quite knowledgeable about Bordeaux wines and the region. Because the pick-up point for the tour is at a meeting point in central Bordeaux rather than individual hotels (though easily walkable from many hotels), it's a good idea to check it out ahead of time.

We had a wonderful guide who picked us up as promised at the train station with our bags in tow. She took us to three wineries. We started at Chateau Figeac, in St. Emilion. We had a wonderful tour and were able to taste a $130 bottle of wine (which was an incredible wine by the way). We also had the opportunity to stop at a second winery, Chateau Soutard which was amazing and recently renovated. There we were able to try some unfiltered wine as it was fermenting in the steel tanks. This was after a wonderful lunch in St. Emilion, where we purchased a case of a variety of bordeaux wines which were mailed to us (Marchand de Vins). The guide was incredible and the company did a wonderful job overall. I would definitely recommend them.

Having only visited Bordeaux once before (as part of an London Wasps supporters away game tour) I decided that this visit, with my wife in tow, should include a little bit more 'culture' than I experienced with my 'rugby friends'
I carried out the standard 'internet search' and found a couple of companies of interest ... The first refused to help because there were only two of us and as I didn't want to go to the vast expense a 'private tour' - they were not interested !
The second company were these folks ... the Tour was described as a 'Group Visit' which was perfect for us ... we are hardly wine connoisseurs and liked the idea of being able to melt into the crowd if necessary.
We selected a Tour (St Emilion and Pomerol, 8 x hours, 10am to 6pm) and the Booking process was pretty simple.
The day itself was exactly as we had imagined .. the Driver (who was also the guide) was very knowledgeable and spoke fluent English. The Tour itself was relaxed and informal and despite our novice level of wine experience, we were made to feel significant and no question was laughed or sneered at
We visited two very different Vineyards, which made it even more interesting - Time for lunch was scheduled whilst we were in St Emilion itself, giving us an hour and a half to wander round at our leisure, or as we did, sit down and enjoy a glorious lunch in the sunshine.
Despite our group's extended pontification at the wine shop over our purchases, the Driver got us back into Bordeaux by 6pm, which was just in time for the start of the Ireland v Scotland 6 Nations game (much to my wife's despair ...)
We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone

Initially my wife was a little concerned about taking the kids to a wine tour.
At the end everything worked really well: we had a knowledgeable explanation about wine production, visiting the places inside the Chateau where the wine is produced (what of course interested a lot my 14 years old), we could understand the stages of grape selection, crushing, fermentation (and it different methods), the pressing and the blending of the different wines, and finally the storages on the oak barrels. On the Pomerol chateau we had even the opportunity to try the 2011 vintage from the oak barrel. That was an amazing experience for me! During the wine degustation the kids always had something else to do, so me and my wife could try the different wine and learn a lot about the different vintages, terroirs, etcs.
We also visited the city St Emilion and had an overview of its history.
I highly recommend this tour if you like wine and are looking for a nice and interesting day.

I took the Ophorus wine tour to St. Emilion this August and it was one of the best experiences I had in France. The tour was small and the guide knew a ton about wine; she was also friendly and spoke great English. St. Emilion itself was a beautiful small town, and the shop where we tasted wine had some affordable bottles for people on a budget. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

We took the tour in a van with a small group which I would highly reccommend. The vehicle was clean, seemed well maintained and our drver/guide was safe . Florence was very well informed and new her history and the wine making process well. We took the day tour to St. Emillion which is a Unesco heritage town. It is a very difficult walk in some areas so proper walking shoes are a must. We visitied two different wineries on two different levels which also gave us a good understanding of the Bordeaux wine classes. We are looking forward to going back with this tour company on the Medoc wine tour

Hi Nancy
Just a quick note to thank you for a wonderful tour on Saturday
The two Vineyards we visited were well chosen and were completely different to each
other and it made it very interesting.
Our Driver was superb, very friendly and knowledgeable …. even when we started to fall
behind the schedule he was very polite and professional.
Thanks again, it made our weekend in Bordeaux even more special !
All the best
