DESCRIPTION :
On this 3 day Bordeaux wine tour based in the recently declared UNESCO world heritage city of Bordeaux your driver-guide will take you to the most famous wine producing regions of the Bordeaux vineyard to make you discover the best of Bordeaux wines. Pick up will be at centrally located n° 3 Allée de Tourny Jet'bus stop.
From the famous Grand Cru Classé of the Médoc to the more intimate garage wines that produce only 3000 bottles a year in Saint Emilion, this tour has been designed to bring you where wine tasting has become an art and will please wine enthusiasts or novices alike as you will be able to comprehend the different techniques involved in wine making, understand the relationship between the wine grower and his/her vineyard and most of all get the feel and authenticity in a region where traditions and values are as deeply rooted as the vineyard itself.
Certainly one of the main features of the tour will be the visit and wine tasting in some some of the most famous Classified growth chateau's of the different appellations: Médoc, Graves and Sauternes and St Emilion.
ITINERARY
Day 1 SAINT EMILION & POMEROL WINE TOUR
This morning depart for the left bank of the Garonne River and head towards the Saint Emilion wine region known for its red wines and where Merlot has become the predominant grape variety. First discover the small appellation of Pomerol and see some of the most famous chateau's such as Petrus or Cheval Blanc. Enjoy your first visit and wine tasting session in one of our selected Classified growth chateau of the St Emilion region. Then arrive in the village of Saint Emilion and enjoy a guided walking tour of the village. After some free time for lunch and personal discovery head towards another of the selected chateau's for a visit and wine tasting session. After the wine tasting, return to Bordeaux
Day 2 MEDOC WINE TOUR
This morning your tour will depart for the right bank of the Garonne River towards the Medoc wine producing region. Here the main grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. First stop at one of the classified growth or Cru Bourgoies chateau for a visit and wine tasting session. Then, follow the Castle road, the famous D2, along which most of the famous wineries of the region are located. Stop for pictures on the way and enjoy some free time for lunch in Pauillac. In the afternoon, you will visit and wine taste in another selected classified growth chateau before arriving at La Winery, a modern complex dedicated to wine. There, after a good introduction on all the Bordeaux wines, you will be offered to wine taste 5 very different Bordeaux wines so as to better understand the differences that can be found between the wine producing regions located within the Bordeaux vineyard.
Day 3 GRAVES & SAUTERNES WINE TOUR
After your pick up in central Bordeaux, your tour today will head for the Pessac Leognanc wine appellation. Part of the Graves region, this small area is home to famous wineries such as Chateau Haut Brion. In this area, the wineries produce reds and whites and in fact the first vineyards planted in Bordeaux where located in this region. Here you will visit and wine taste in 2 of our selected estates either in Pessac or the Graves region. After some time for lunch, you will be driven to the sweet white wine producing region of Sauternes. Sauternes wines are made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes that have been affected by Botrytis cinerea, also known as noble rot. Enjoy a visit and a wine tasting session in a prestigious Classified growth of the appellation to know all about this legendary wine. After the visit and wine tasting return to Bordeaux.
