Day 1 SARLAT GUIDED WALKING TOUR / DOMME VILLAGE VISIT / DORDOGNE BOAT RIDE
In the morning, follow a guided walking tour of historic Sarlat, a rich merchant town of the 18th century. Then reach the small village of Domme. Enjoy a walking tour and some free time for personal discovery. Then we drive to the beautiful village of La Roque Gageac where you will depart on a boat ride on the River Dordogne. Finally, we head to Beynac where you will admire a truly spectacular view and one of the most impressive medieval castles of the Dordogne. Day 2 PADIRAC CHASM/ ROCAMADOUR VISIT / EYRIGNAC GARDENS VISIT
Set off on an excursion to the Padirac chasm, a natural, 75 metre abyss that shows on the limestone plateau of the "Causse de Gramat" in the Lot, below which, at 103 metres underground flows a river. Visit and boat ride in the Abyss. Then off to the pilgrimage and fortress town of Rocamadour. Visit the renowned Notre Dame Chapel, part of an
extraordinary 13th-century chapel complex perched on a cliff and one of the most dramatic pilgrimage sites in Europe. Finally stop at the Gardens of Eyrignac Manor, which are among the most famous and beautiful in France.
Day 3 LASCAUX II visit & THE ART OF THE CAVES IN THE DORDOGNE
Some 15,000 years B.C. unknown painters created breath taking cave paintings of which the most extraordinary examples are found in the Dordogne area. During this day enjoy some time in Les Eyzies and follow your guide on a commented visit of the National Prehistory Museum. Continue to Rouffignac Cave that possesses original and authentic engravings dating back to the late Magdalenian. Finally, visit of Lascaux II a perfect reproduction of the original cave.
Day 4 CASTLES OF THE DORDOGNE VALLEY
In the morning, by Carsac-Aillac and Montfort depart along the Dordogne valley. First visit the mighty castle of Castelnaud a medieval fortress overlooking the Dordogne River,
erected to face its rival, the Château de Beynac. Then visit of the Milandes castle. Built around 1489, it was the main house of the lords of Caumont until 1535. In 1940, the entertainer Josephine Baker rented the château and then bought it in 1947. Finally, end the day with the visit of the Gardens of Marqueyssac: listed as a National Historical Monument it offers more than 6 kilometres of shaded paths, edged with 150 000 hand-pruned hundred year old boxwoods.
