Located south of Paris, the Loire Valley, from Sully-sur-Loire to Chalonne, is considered by UNESCO to be a World Heritage site. Although this French region is perhaps best known for its many castles, it also boasts some lovely historical towns and beautiful landscapes, particularly along the river.
Wines and Vineyards
The wine areas of the Loire Valley are rich in exceptional wines boasting great diversity and authenticity. They are a facet of the region that can be discovered in a variety of ways.
Day 1: AMBOISE
Arrival in Amboise, which is easily accessible from Paris by train. You can either take a direct train to Amboise, or ride the TGV to Saint Pierre des Corps and then a local train to Amboise. Arrive in the early afternoon and start discovering your host city with a treasure hunt around Amboise !
Orientation & bike set-up at your hotel
Our local guide (French native & English speaking) will meet you at your hotel in the evening of your arrival day (or morning after according to the time we will plan with you). He will bring your bicycles, road-books, GPS and touristic information.
An expert of the region, you can ask him all the questions you have about your trip. Then he will adjust your bike so you feel comfortable riding.
Activity : Treasure hunt
After you settle in your hotel, you can go to visit Amboise in a unique way with our cultural treasure hunt in the historical center ! Our Treasure Hunt will introduce you to the most important sites and give you a fun way to pass a couple hours after arrival. distance: 6miles
Day 2: CANOEING & CHOCOLATE TASTING - AMBOISE / CHENONCEAU
A short and moderately flat ride will take you through the forests and alleys of the Amboise countryside passing by the Parc Mini Chateaux (great for kids) and then dropping down to the fabulous Chenonceau Castle that must be discovered with plenty of time to visit. Once at Chenonceau, ride to Civray, just a mile away to start your canoe ride ! You will drop off your bikes there, and they will take you to the start of the itinerary. You will then canoe downstream for almost 2 hours, and pass under the Chateau de Chenonceau. Pick up your bikes and ride back to Amboise where you can enjoy a reward : a chocolate tasting in front of the chateau of Amboise !
Distances : 30 or 49 Km (18 or 31 mi).
Elevation : 140 or 404 m.
Activity : Canoeing down the Cher - This 6-km route will lead you from the small village of Chissay-sur-Cher to the famous Chenonceau castle.
Activity : Chocolate tasting in the best chocolate place of the Loire Valley : "chocolaterie Bigot" in Amboise including 1 drink (hot or cold) and a variety of 4 chocolates. Night at your Hotel in Amboise.
Day 3: MONTLOUIS VILLAGE / VINEYARD OF VOUVRAY / AMBOISE
A quiet bike tour on the other side of the Loire through gentle, verdant landscapes, far removed from the main roads - visit the Moncontour wine museum and taste some wine in their cave (included). About Vouvray wines : Vouvray is the largest white wine appellation of the Anjou-Saumur-Touraine region and it produces splendid wines from the dry and austere to the richest dessert wines, as well as excellent sparkling wines. You will then cross Montlouis white wine appellation and ride in the middle of the vineyards on a bike trail. Return to Amboise.
Distances : 42 or 45 Km (26 or 28 mi).
Elevation : 355 or 377 m.
Activity : Wine Museum - The ancient cellars of Château Moncontour are home to a real treasure ! Come and discover a unique collection of tools and objects associated with our heritage, vineyard culture and wine making. Night at your hotel in Amboise.
Day 4: AMBOISE / CAHUMONT SUR LOIRE / AMBOIRSE
Depart from your hotel in the morning. You will first cross many typical small villages where you can find a small Chateau in almost every one ! Then follow the Loire river toward the village and the feudal castle of Chaumont sur Loire where the annual International Garden Festival is held each year (starting in June). Return to Amboise via back country paths. Night at your hotel in Amboise

Day 5: AMBOISE
Departure from Amboise : Today is departure day, you can take your time getting started in the morning, have breakfast and depart at your leisure from Amboise by train for Paris or other destination.

During your orientation we provide you 1 GPS for 3 people. The model is a Garmin 600t (or equivalent)
The routes described in your road book are pre-programmed in the GPS. You simply have to follow the line shown on the GPS, and enjoy !

The SCOTT SUB SPORT 20 (or equivalent) features a sporty "trekking" geometry that suits trips of all distances. Equipped with a Shimano 27 speed transmission and integrated front and rear lights, this bike is begging to go on an adventure.
Your bike rental comes with 2 bags (1 Rear pannier + 1 front pannier) so you can easily carry your stuff during your ride.
