BIARRITZ & THE BASQUE COUNTRY
On this three day tour to Biarritz and the Basque country, your own personal driver/guide will make you discover the best the Basque region has to offer.
Pickup will be at your hotel every day and you will depart towards the main attractions this unique region offers. City guided walking tours include Biarritz, St Jean de Luz and San Sebastian. Small traditional Basque villages will also be yours to discover as many are classified amongst the “most beautiful of France”.
Certainly one of the main features of the tour will be the visit of the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao (on your own). That day also includes a walking tour in outstanding St Sebastian where ‘Pinchos’ will certainly come as a surprise to many of you. Itinerary: Day One: Biarritz walking tour/St Jean de Luz walking tour Begin the day with a walking tour of Biarritz. This renowned seaside resort has always remained a fashion hot spot. Famous visitors include Coco Chanel, Charles Chaplin and Frank Sinatra. Today, the town is sprinkled with some of the most beautiful “Belle Époque” villas of France. In the afternoon, we reach Saint Jean de Luz one of the most beautiful port towns of the region. After a short visit, free time for personal discovery. Night in Biarritz. Day Two: Most beautiful villages / La Rhune rack and pinion train This morning is devoted to the most beautiful villages of the Basque countryside. Whether in Sare or Aïnhoa, you will be enchanted with the Basque architecture, the colors and local atmosphere that reigns in these villages. In the afternoon we will board the famous rack-and-pinion train of La Rhune that will take us astride the Spanish Border (if weather conditions permit the ascension). Night in Biarritz. Day Three: Guggenheim museum / Getaria / San Sebastian walking tour Certainly one of the highlights of the week! Your day will begin by the visit of the incredible Guggenheim museum located in the city of Bilbao. Conceived by US architect Frank O. Gehry, the museum possesses one of the most important collections of XXth century art. After the visit and some time in Bilbao, we will then return via San Sebastian the Spanish equivalent to Biarritz. You will certainly be happily surprised as you are immersed in the heart of the Old city where “Tapas” are the main attraction. Night in Biarritz. End of our services.
